For rugby enthusiasts, it doesn’t get much more exciting than the 6 Nations Championship! This legendary showdown has been lighting up the pitch since 1883, making it the oldest and most thrilling tournament between the Home Nations. And this year? Oh boy, it started with a bang! While France and Wales got things rolling, the real heart-stopper for us Scots was the second match.
On the 1st of the month, Scotland squared off against Italy in a nail-biting, adrenaline-pumping, edge-of-your-seat battle. Here in Edinburgh, you could feel the anticipation in the air, with fans spilling into pubs, parks, and anywhere with a screen. But one superfan, Darren, took things to legendary status with his ultimate 6 Nations bash!
Darren’s party was nothing short of spectacular. Fifty friends and family packed into his back garden, where a gigantic projector screen ensured not a single play was missed. A sturdy gazebo stood guard against the Scottish weather, while the fully stocked garden bar kept spirits high. But the real MVP of the evening? Our famous pulled pork-stuffed rolls, loaded with sage and onion stuffing, crispy crackling, and a generous slathering of applesauce, were an instant hit. Plates were stacked high, and let’s just say, not a single crumb was left behind. The crowd devoured every bite with the enthusiasm of a last-minute match-winning try!
And because variety is the spice of life, we didn’t stop there. Crispy mixed fries, crunchy, refreshing coleslaw and vibrant, zesty salads rounded out the spread. With everyone happily munching away, the energy remained sky-high.
Then, the moment we were all waiting for – Scotland’s big WIN! The crowd erupted, drinks flew into the air, and pure joy took over. Hugs, high-fives, and victorious chants filled the atmosphere. It was the kind of night rugby dreams are made of!
