An outdoor wedding in Scotland? What can we say, it’s a brave choice! Let’s face it – this beautiful country is notorious for showcasing all four seasons in a single afternoon. So, predicting the weather months in advance? Practically sorcery! But when the sun does shine – it’s pure magic. Especially if you’re lucky enough to say “I do” in the enchanting city of Edinburgh.
Scotland’s capital is romance wrapped in cobblestones and castle views. Whether you’re after fairy tale elegance, medieval grandeur, or modern city chic, Edinburgh delivers in spades. And for Darren and Emma, who tied the knot last week under blue skies and blazing sunshine, it was a dream come true.
Set against a jaw-dropping castle backdrop, their wedding was nothing short of spectacular – and not just because of the weather. As you should all know by now, the only thing more important than the dress and the ‘I dos’ is the food. And that’s where Hog Roast Abbeyhill came in hot – literally. With over 30 years experience feeding hungry party people across the capital, we’re basically the Beyoncé of the wedding catering world (modesty is overrated).
At this event, we made sure the guests received a warm welcome with platters of bite-sized brilliance – mini fish and chips, pizzas, flaky quiches, chicken satay skewers and smoked Scottish salmon, all served by our talented serving team while guests mingled and soaked up the sunshine.
Then came the main event: the hog roast to end all hog roasts. Perfectly slow-cooked pork with crackling that snapped, sizzled, and stole hearts. Hog Roast Abbeyhill also rolled out handmade beef burgers, gourmet sausages, and our legendary BBQ-pulled jackfruit rolls for the veggie squad. Toss in crispy roast tatties, zingy coleslaw, and garden-fresh salads, and BOOM – wedding feast goals achieved.
And dessert? Oh yes, we went there. Summer pudding bursting with fresh berries and a zingy tarte au citron provided a light, refreshing finish to a feast fit for royalty.
Darren and Emma’s wedding was a reminder that while you can’t control the Scottish weather, when everything aligns – sunshine, scenery, and spectacular food – there’s truly no better place to celebrate love than Edinburgh.
So if you’re planning your big day and want a feast your guests will rave about for years, Hog Roast Abbeyhill is ready to bring the flavour, rain or shine!
