If there’s one thing Scotland’s got in spades, it’s castles. Seriously, blink and you’ll probably spot one. And honestly, we’re not complaining – especially when it means we get to rock up to places like Borthwick Castle with our trusty hog roast kit in tow.
Now, if you’ve never seen Borthwick Castle in Gorebridge up close, you’re missing out. It’s proper old-school grandeur. Think ancient stone, regal vibes, and views that go on for miles. Mary Queen of Scots herself once stayed there, and it’s still turning heads almost 600 years later.
Borthwick Castle is the kind of place where anything goes. Birthday celebrations, corporate functions… even the odd Highland Games. And that’s exactly what went down earlier this month.
Wilderness Scotland – you know, Europe’s number one adventure travel company – took full advantage of the venue’s Highland Games team-building experience to help staff bond and reward them for all of their hard work. And, as we all know, you can’t have an event without some sensational scran, so Hog Roast Borthwick was called in to fuel the action with our famous Gourmet BBQ spread.
We had 54 guests to feed, and let’s just say none of them could resist what we had to offer.
At Hog Roast Borthwick, we consider ourselves to be skilled people-pleasers, and our BBQ menu never goes amiss. The smells coming from our stall alone had guests salivating – they couldn’t wait to dig in!
Not only was everything cooked on-site for maximum flavour and freshness, but the variety made sure everyone had something snack-worthy to dig into. Handmade beef burgers, gourmet sausages, Thai chicken kebabs, mixed fries, fried onions, melting cheese, and garden-fresh salads – you name it, it was on the menu.
And would you believe it, the sun actually showed up too. Not a single cloud in sight, which is rare enough to deserve a mention. Guests tucked into their plates under the marquee, happily shaded from the heat (and looking relieved about it!).
Hog Roast Borthwick
