There’s something special about catering for a big community gathering — the energy, the chatter, and the buzz of people coming together to share a meal. That’s exactly what we experienced when we had the pleasure of providing a Hog Roast Balerno for 225 guests at St Mungo’s Church.
Booked by Tara, the event was set for a 1pm serve, so our team was on-site early to get the slow-roasted hog cooking to perfection. As the hours passed, the mouthwatering aroma began to drift through the church grounds, building excitement for what was to come. By the time we started carving, a lively queue had formed, and the smiles said it all — everyone was ready for a hearty plateful.
Our Hog Roast Balerno menu featured tender, juicy pork served with crispy golden crackling — a true crowd-pleaser — along with fresh accompaniments to balance the richness of the roast. Guests chatted as they tucked in, enjoying the kind of food that’s best eaten with friends, laughter, and maybe a second helping or two.
One of the joys of catering a large community event like this is seeing the way food brings people together. The church grounds were filled with conversation as people caught up with old friends, made new connections, and shared in the warmth of the occasion. We lost count of how many people came back for more — a sure sign the hog roast hit the spot!
Tara and the team at St Mungo’s had clearly put a lot of thought into making the afternoon run smoothly, and it was a privilege to be part of it. From our side, serving 225 guests in one go is always a challenge, but with careful preparation and a hardworking crew, it all came together seamlessly.
If you’re planning a big gathering, whether it’s for a church, community group, or family celebration, a Hog Roast Balerno is the perfect choice for bringing everyone together over a memorable meal.
