We all know what it is like to have to anticipate the return to work after a good few weeks of holiday. It can be difficult to get yourself back in the regular schedule after a few weeks of sunning and relaxing. Now multiply that tenfold with the length of the summer holidays for our teachers (and the fact that returning to work means returning to hundreds of kids).
It’s undoubtedly difficult for teachers to get themselves back to school ready after the summer. Fortunately for the staff of Edinburgh Academy, however, Hog Roast Edinburgh arrived to school early to help ease that transition!
Management at the Academy decided that their staff training day the week before the pupils return could be paired with a special get together with catering from Hog Roast Edinburgh. This way, the staff could get back into the right mindset for work and remain motivated for their training day while still enjoying the very last hours of the summer holidays together. After so many weeks off, it was a great opportunity for staff to reconnect, catch up, and ready themselves for another busy year ahead.
And so for such a summer focused event what else are you going to have for your dining than a barbecue? With the incredible Newfield rugby grounds near Edinburgh Academy, there were plenty of sunny spots for the Hog Roast Edinburgh team to set up and serve our gourmet BBQ range for the hungry teachers who rounded out their training day with our dining. We have a couple in the Hog Roast Edinburgh that might remember some of these rugby pitches fondly having played there once or twice, but this was a test of a different variety as we worked our feet off to make sure all 120 of our guests had as many gourmet rolls as they wanted. With 4 meats available (gourmet burgers, sausages, Thai chicken kebabs, ribs), fried onions, cheese, grilled veg and halloumi skewers, Greek salad, gourmet slaw, and a medley of regular and sweet potato fries, there was certainly enough to be cooking and serving!
It was a delight to see old faces again who we have enjoyed getting to know over the last 4-5 years, and we can only wish you all the best for the academic year ahead!
