There’s a reason people sometimes call 50th birthdays “Golden Jubilees.” Reaching half a century is a milestone worth celebrating, a moment to look back on what’s been and look forward to what’s still to come.
Here in Gorebridge, Henrietta Goffin showed exactly how a 50th birthday should be done. As estate manager of the 16th century Arniston Estate, she already had a stunning location for her party. All that was left was finding the right catering team to match the setting and impress her 50 guests. That’s where Hog Roast Gorebridge came in.
Our catering duo, Brian and Sheena, were in charge of adding flavour to Henrietta’s celebrations, and spent the hours leading up to the serving time transforming the historic stone dining hall into a cosy space that was filled with an incredible mix of smells. They started by serving antipasti platters of Italian meats, cheeses and artisan breads on bamboo wooden boards, along with balsamic vinegar and extra virgin olive oil. The guests didn’t waste any time digging into this aesthetically-pleasing selection of nibbles and if anything, it made them all the more excited for the main course!
Wine and champagne flowed freely as Hog Roast Gorebridge finished prepping the hog roast, which quickly became the evening’s star attraction. Treating guests to soft and tender pulled pork, crispy pork scratchings, sage and onion stuffing and homemade applesauce, our legendary feast was an instant hit. On the side, we served heritage tomato and buffalo mozzarella salad, seasonal leaves, gourmet coleslaw and roasted new potatoes, which complemented the pork beautifully.
Henrietta’s guests were also offered a meat-free option of grilled vegetable skewers with optional halloumi, flatbreads and tzatziki dip, which proved popular – even among the devoted carnivores!
And, because what’s a birthday without dessert, Hog Roast Gorebridge finished the feast with a choice of individually made cheesecakes or vacherins of strawberries with passionfruit cream. By the time the last plates were cleared away, the mood in the hall said it all. Everyone was chatting, laughing, and clearly having a great time, while Henrietta got the golden birthday she deserved.
